Day 196. Metal Motherwell Bird

Today’s Bird-A-Day art was inspired by the color field simplicity of Rothko and the bold black shapes of Motherwell. I started with an amazing found printers plate that had been a reject. This offset printing plate had wonderful ink-stained color blocks, ink drips and marks that I just love. With the plate for my canvas I painted this large black bird with gloss enamel. It is one of my largest birds ever. Enjoy.
