Day 40. Printing Plate Bird

9 Feb

Wow.  40 days already. This year is flying by for me. Today’s Bird-A-Day art is inspired by something I do during my day job, on occasion. And that would be press checking. Today’s bird was painted with acrylics on an offset printing plate from a local printer. The idea of doing fine art, my personal art, on something that is non-personal is an interesting mix. This press plate represents mass production, but there exist only one bird painting on this single plate. I like that. I also like the surface of the aluminum plate as a canvas. Isn’t that ironic. It grabs the paint but also allows the paint to slide easily across it. Every graphic designer should try this one out after your next press check. Enjoy.
