Day 60. Constellation Leap Year Bird

29 Feb

Today is February 29. Leap day! Lucky me, that I would have to start a 365 day blog project on a leap year. That just cracks me up. Today’s Bird-A-Day art is inspired by this extra bonus day for 2012. According to Wikipedia, the leap day is the only way to keep the calendar year synchronized with the stars and the seasons. So it seemed a good idea to create a bird constellation. Not having any stars or star-dust to play with, I took a heavy sheet of pressed board and drilled “29” holes. I then propped a light behind the board and presto, Constellation Leap Year Bird. Enjoy.

Well, I am impressed how well you know your constellations. I had to look that one up. It does indeed remind me of the Aquila constellation. That’s a happy accident.
